Greenwood House School set to host Conference themed ‘Navigating the Complexities of Parenthood’ | Sept 18th

Greenwood House School is taking a bold step to change the way parenting is done in Nigeria with its upcoming parent’s conference. This event will bring together experts from a variety of fields to share their insights on the challenges and joys of parenting in the 21st century.

With the theme ‘Navigating the Complexities of Parenthood’, the conference will be an opportunity for key stakeholders to discourse and collaborate on ways to better connect with the younger generation in line with the changes to society.

The event is scheduled for Monday, September 18, 2023, at Civic Center from 08:30 a.m., with registration open through this link

It will feature key speakers from various sectors including psychologists, pediatricians, key opinion leaders, and family-centric influencers, to discuss enrichment and intervention strategies to support students, highlight issues affecting their learning and growth, and analyse the intricacies of parenting the most globally connected generation.

The keynote address will be given by Olajumoke Adenowo, an award-winning architect and the founder of Awesome Treasures Foundation, a United Nations-recognized faith-based NGO. Folasade Adefisayo, the former Commissioner for Education, Lagos State, will be in attendance as a special guest. 

The event will be moderated by Nicole Chikwe and Jayne Augoye (Fabmum), both prominent parenting influencers in the digital space, and will feature plenary sessions focused on communication, technology, and social media.

The plenary session on communication will be moderated by Nicole Chikwe and will feature the following experts:

  1. Yinka Ogunde – Founder, Concerned Parents Network
  2. Ronke Onadeko – Serial entrepreneur and multi-sectoral professional
  3. Temidayo Seriki – Founder, Man Up Initiative
  4. Ohimai Unuigboje – MD/CEO, Netspex & Founder, SlipStream

Jayne Augoye, also known as Fabmum, will moderate the plenary session on technology and social media featuring:

  1. Yinka Awobo-Pearse – Founder, Woodentots Montessori Nursery School
  2. Jadesola Adedeji – Co-founder, STEM METS Resources
  3. Adebola Atoyebi – EO, Heritage House Montessori Center
  4. Olubunmi Aboderin Talabi – Author; Founder, IweMi; & Convener, Akada Children’s Book Festival

There’ll also be breakout sessions anchored by Mable Okereafor, Developmental Psychologist; Chidinma Abiakalam, Childhood Consultant, Mental Health Facilitator, and counsellor; and Yinka Awobo-Pearse, Founder, Woodentots Montessori Nursery School, on topical issues including:

  • EYFS – Maximizing the care, development, and learning of your child
  • Confronting Bullying – The Bully, The Bystander & The Bullied
  • Antisocial Behaviour – Identifying and dealing with peer pressure, drugs & cultism
