It has been three months since Valentine’s Day, but it seems love is still in the air. And Cupid seems to have shot the arrow of love at the two people we did not expect it to get, Elo and Diane!

Recently, the pair was caught in what seemed to be a very cosy position. The viral picture has gotten many fans engaged, as it seems their wish is finally coming true. Although it seems they do not want us to find out about them yet, we wait, but we are curious!

A lot of Nigerians once shipped them while they were still in the BBNaija house, and who can blame them? Elo and Diane would make quite the couple. We could feel the tension from the screens we watched them on.

Which leads us to ask: What happened to them outside the house? Why are they back together now? Did they finally see that they were meant for each other like we did? Is the ship finally going to sail? Is this a new movie script?
There are so many questions with few answers that, unfortunately, only they can tell us what’s happening. Until then, we can only wait and see.

How we met
By the Bride, Yewande:

Once upon a time, on a sunny day at Essex Uni, I attended an open day to explore the campus. As I strolled around, I suddenly bumped into a young man with a massive afro, as if we were back in the ‘60s! Mistaking him for a childhood friend, I called out my friend’s name, only to be met with silence. My friend Shikemi, laughing, said, “I don’t think that’s the same person.” Shrugging it off, we continued our tour of the campus. Fast forward a year, and I enrolled at the same University, with the Afro encounter long forgotten. As I made friends and settled into uni life, I kept hearing about this guy named Posi. “You should meet Posi,” they’d say, or “Have you met Posi yet?” By the third person, I was like, “Whoa! Who is this Posi guy, and what’s so great about him?” 😅

 

As fate would have it, I eventually met the famous Posi through a mutual friend at a get-together. And guess what? He was the same dude with the afro Lol. He was just as kind as everyone had described! A true gentleman. Posi and I bonded over our shared experiences of having large families and numerous other things. That year, however, was also a tragic one for me, as I lost my dad just a few weeks into starting school. Posi was there for me every step of the way, helping me laugh and stay positive.

Fast forward 10 years from the exact day I said yes to being his girlfriend (13.04.2014), I said yes to being his wife (13.04.2024).

 

How we met
By the Groom, Posi:

Our journey began in Essex, but our story had already begun long before. I had heard of Yewande during high school through mutual friends, and although we had crossed paths several times prior we never spoke. After a few years, I landed at the University of Essex, and by some stroke of fate, Yewande ended up there too. A friend introduced us, and our conversations sparked an undeniable connection. We began dating, and I fondly remember her asking “Where do you see yourself in a decade?”. I responded, ‘Let’s take it one day at a time’, hoping that those days would stretch into years with her. Luckily for me a decade later, she said “I DO” to a lifetime together.

How we met
By the bride, Christabel:

Our story began on a dating app shortly after my move to Canada. Being in a new place, I saw it as an opportunity to connect with people and discover the city. I wasn’t actively seeking a lifelong partner, but rather, I was open to forming friendships without any particular expectations. Dede and I started talking and things took off swiftly from there. Just a few days later, we found ourselves on our first date, which went swimmingly—although he still jokingly reminds me about devouring a sizable portion of ribs (typical foodie move, right?).

  

My initial reaction upon meeting Dee (as I fondly call him) was one of astonishment; standing next to him, I felt dwarfed in comparison. Despite his early declarations of his desire for a future together, I was keen on building our friendship first. Coincidentally, we ended up relocating to a new city where we lived just six minutes apart, a seemingly serendipitous twist that further solidified our connection. Getting to know Dee over time, I became increasingly convinced that I was ready to embark on a shared journey towards our future together. We’re thrilled about spending eternity together.

It all began at Law School in Abuja, where we embarked on a journey that would forever shape our lives. We met as two ambitious individuals, drawn together by our shared dreams. During Bar 2 (the second part of Law school) in Lagos, we became study buddies and formed an unbreakable bond with each other. Our study sessions turned into moments of shared laughter and understanding, and we quickly became best friends. It was during these times of friendship that we uncovered a remarkable connection between our families. We realised that our grandparents had shared a deep friendship, and our families had always been close, even though we had never crossed paths before.

This revelation added an even more profound layer to our story, as it felt like destiny was conspiring to bring us together. It became clear that our connection was not just a matter of chance; it was a testament to the intricate web of family ties that had bound us together long before we met. Now, as we stand on the precipice of a new chapter in our lives, we are filled with excitement and gratitude. We are humbled by the love and support we have received from our families and friends, and we are eager to continue the legacy of love that has brought us to this moment.

Our wedding is not just a union of two individuals; it is a celebration of the love, history, and intertwined destinies that have brought us together. We are excited to embark on this incredible journey as husband and wife, knowing that our love story is one for the ages.

As you can guess, Cupid struck the second time they met during a bowling game. Ademide made quite an impression on Oyekanmi and this made him eager to get to know more about her. He was completely sold out after tasting a home-cooked meal she prepared for him after she lost a bet. He planned a romantic proposal where he asked the lady who had stolen his heart (and stomach) to be his forever. Of course, she said ‘Yes’ and it’s butterflies on this end. Their proposal photos are nothing short of beautiful and we are super excited for them.

How we met
By the groom, Oyekanmi:

Our first meeting wasn’t anything special. During an important exam period, I gave her an underwhelming greeting, which would unknowingly lead to my first nickname of “sleepy giant.” Our second meeting was a little more memorable. A family game of bowling, bringing out the competitive side in us. Being the gentleman I am, I offered to pay for the outing, but this lady refused to send her account details.  Back in Glasgow and now 370 miles away, I could have forgotten about that encounter, but there was something about her that I couldn’t let go of. Months later, I was presented with a choice. Take a job in my city, or one just 20 minutes away from her – You can guess what I chose. See – love makes you do funny things.

 

From there, it was truly a thrilling ride. The way this lady drives is not for the faint of heart. Now just 15 miles away, I used every opportunity to see her. Booking haircuts in her town, planning dates and exploring new cities, anything to spend time with her. She would plan to spend 2 hours with me, and the whole day would pass. We could sit in the car and talk the day away. We didn’t have to be doing anything; spending time with each other was enough.

 

I won a bet and requested my prize be a home-cooked meal, so she prepared smoky jollof rice, spicy suya, and plantains. After this one, my heart (and stomach) were taken. Within 3 months of moving, I already knew (and told her) she would be my wife, but she was still doing shakara for me. After a lot of wooing, I asked her to be my woman, and she accepted. We were both very happy. Since then, like any couple, we have had highs and lows. This lady, her wahala is plenty, but there is no lady’s wahala that I want but hers, and it’s the same for her. We truly are each other’s person. They say when two hearts are destined for each other, everything aligns to bring them together and we can’t agree more. Bianca and Williams‘ journey has been one of beautiful discoveries.

They met for the first time at the university seven years ago, Unknowingly to them, their paths had crossed paths in the online world a while back. Over the years, they’ve been bound by the threads of chance encounters until one fateful day when Williams spontaneously asked Bianca to be his girlfriend. Now, this seemingly simple action has led them to the brink of forever. They sure make a cute couple and we are super stoked for them!

How we met
By the bride, Bianca:

In 2017, at the University of Nigeria Enugu campus, fate intertwined as I just crossed over. Williams, whom I’d been unknowingly following on social media, coincidentally crossed paths with me during his clearance. A chance encounter turned into a playful exchange on Twitter. Fast forward to 2019, a car ride deepened our bond. In 2021, his beard caught my eye on Instagram, sparking playful banter. After a generous gesture, he surprised me by suggesting I see him as my boyfriend. In disbelief, I asked, “Just like that?” His reply: “Yes, just like that.” Three delightful years later, We’re choosing to spend the rest of our life together and we will do it over and over again.

Moses Bliss

In January, Moses Bliss surprised everyone by announcing his engagement to Marie Wiseborn on social media. The proposal took place in London in a beautiful orchestra in a setting surrounded by friends. Moses even serenaded Marie with a special performance before popping the question and getting a resounding “yes”!

Barely a month later, their love story culminated in a beautiful February wedding ceremony in Ghana. The celebrations included a civil and traditional ceremony, officially making them Mr. and Mrs. Bliss.

How we met
By the bride-to-be Cassandra:

We attended the same university and met for the first time in 2014. I was with a male friend at a photoshoot on a Saturday afternoon in my faculty and he tapped my arm and told me to look at the “Fresh”, Tall, good-looking model. I’ll never forget that I thought he was the most good-looking man I had ever seen. He was in his final year and I was in my first. In 2016, we went on our first date at my favourite ice cream place and I was so smitten lol, but I was about to get into my final year and I wasn’t ready for a committed relationship.

        

Fast forward to 2019/2020, we and a few other guys that went to uni together became much closer and started spending more time together and I was like one of the boys, but in all of these, it was clear that something was still there, even our friends teased about it. It just wasn’t the right timing and we were never in the same headspace. In December 2020, I moved to the island and was staying down the road from the boys so I saw them ever so often. Finally, in June 2021, he asked if he could take me on a date (I remember being super giddy about this and not being able to sleep for days) and we started this relationship properly then, and it has been amazing.

   

Here’s How Yemi Popped the question:

I had been planning his 30th birthday surprise dinner for months because I wanted it to be perfect, he really deserved it. A few weeks to the birthday dinner, his younger sister convinced him to propose earlier and hinted that I was planning something for him and it would be a wonderful way to surprise me. I started to suspect literally all my friends because I’m able to pick on the tiniest detail but he managed to sell me another story about some other event happening on his birthday (the surprise party was set for the day before) and I believed he would propose on his actual birthday instead. We got to the venue of the surprise dinner, with all of our friends that I had invited for his birthday waiting. Just that this time, they were waiting for me and I ended up being the surprised one. It was so smart and absolutely amazing. I was completely gobsmacked.

One of our favourite things about the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is the opportunity it gives to create sweet love stories. Abisoye and Collins are beneficiaries of this… and Yes, their love story began in the NYSC camp. 🥰

Now, it’s a forever story for the lovebirds as they tie the knot in a beautiful white wedding ceremony. Abisoye looked radiant and Collins came through dapper. Before their white wedding, the Yoruba beauty and Delta-Igbo prince charming had a wholesome blend of love and culture with their traditional wedding. Their special bond was evident all through and we can’t get enough of  the joyous atmosphere and sweet display of love in each of their photos

How we met
By the groom, Collins:

Abisoye and I met at NYSC Camp through mutual friends. Before we were introduced, I had seen her earlier in the day at Mami market purchasing a power bank and she looked overwhelmed. I tried to get her attention but she walked right past me; she didn’t even notice me or look in my direction. Well, as fate would have it, we were formally introduced through friends that night. Most of her friends were in my platoon, so she would come over to hang and I always saved her a seat… we got closer over time.

 

  

We got to know each other better and became really great friends. During our last week on camp, I asked her if she had planned on relocating or travelling for her master’s degree because I knew I was relocating soon. I saw a future with her and I didn’t want to miss out on it. We started dating right after camp and I made sure my last few months before relocating were memorable. Our relationship became a long-distance relationship for a year before she moved for her master’s. The rest, as they say, is history.

In 2023, Angeloh released not just an album, but a celebration of love! “Love Child” is a 7-track that talks about love in its truest form – new love, weddings, romantic getaways – and all the sweetness that comes with it. It has a deluxe version featuring collaborations with other gospel greats like Greatman Takit, Gaise Baba, Ko’rale, and soul singer, Waje. Since 2019, Angeloh has been making love songs inspired by the twists and turns of his love life: from being single to finding the one, getting married, and navigating fatherhood as a young man.

Bonus… Sola Allyson – Ife Eji Owuro

We couldn’t resist including a timeless classic! Sola Allyson‘s “Ife Eji Owuro” (meaning “Morning Love”) is a beautiful and enduring love song that continues to resonate with listeners today. After a carrying out a selfless act in Paris, the beautiful city of love became a place where their bond blossomed even further. Now, as they journey to ‘happy ever after’, they are yet reminded of the fact that their love was always meant to be. How we met
By the bride, Amanda:

The last time I was in Paris was 4 years ago, it was my first solo trip and quite frankly ended badly. I unimaginably experienced loss whilst on holiday, truly no one prepares you for that. Anyway, my best friend flew into Paris to spend time with me and he was the best support system a girl needed. I left Paris hastily, scarred by the emotions the city stirred up in me. Fast forward to this trip, my best friend (now fiancé) and I decided we fly out to Paris for his birthday, in hopes of creating better memories as time has passed. The intentionality he brought, making sure I was comfortable and happy despite it being his birthday was beautiful to witness. And then, he surprised me by asking me to be his life partner, his wife. Paris I love now, but this man has my heart forever, he always has to be honest.

]]> Editor’s note: If you have been on social media lately and following conversations about relocation and marriage, you must have noticed a trend where people come online to share how relocation is taking a toll on marriages, and how their friends (families, or someone they know) are having one marital issue or another due to relocation.   

Conversations around japa have garnered diverse narratives. One, people advise you to have your person before you relocate as it can get very lonely over there. In the same vein, people are having conversations about the impact of japa, new environment and culture on marriages. 

We understand that navigating a new country as a couple can be tough, which is why we’re inviting couples to share their experiences, comparing life in Nigeria versus the country they now reside in. In this 2-part series, we explore issues of love, marriage and japa. First, we talk to Praise and Oluwaseyi Ogunnowo who got married in 2020 and relocated to the Netherlands in 2022 on how they have navigated their marriage in a new land.

Hello Praise and Oluwaseyi. It’s good to have you both here

Hi BellaNaija, thank you.

Did you get married in Nigeria before relocating, and for how long? 

Oluwaseyi: Yeah, we had our court wedding in October 2020, and we relocated in July 2022 with our son.

Nice! What country?  

Praise: We relocated to the Netherlands in July 2022. We’ve been here for 21 months precisely. 

How did you run your home before leaving?

Praise: It was a breeze. Our son arrived in October 2021, and with both of us working in the tech industry, we primarily worked from home. Seyi had to commute to the office twice a week, but I enjoyed the flexibility of fully remote work with an international company. With the support of our extended family and a nanny who came in daily, we were able to cherish every moment with our baby. As ambitious young parents, we didn’t have to sacrifice our professional careers for family. It truly felt like we were living our dream life.

Oluwaseyi: Before we relocated, we combined our finances. There weren’t any specific expenses each person had to bear and this worked for us. We both worked and so we had a nanny who looked after our baby and after the day’s work, we looked after him.

How has the process of relocating abroad impacted your relationship? Were there any significant challenges, surprises or culture shock you faced during this transition as a couple?

Praise: There were a lot of challenges. Initially, we were thrilled about the prospect of starting our family in the Netherlands (and that excitement remains), but the reality quickly dawned on us. The expenses piled up rapidly, and within three months of relocating, we had depleted all our savings from Nigeria due to lots and lots of monthly bills and excess taxes on everything. We were sad. 

The distance from our families and the responsibility of caring for an eight-month-old child created a lot of strain in our relationship. We had to adapt to this new reality and develop coping mechanisms. Unlike our lifestyle in Nigeria, where we could frequently go out, we found ourselves questioning if we really craved Spaghetti Bolognese or would just save the money for water bills. This placed significant stress on us initially but with time, we acclimated and things improved. We gradually built a social circle, made more friends, met a lot of amazing people, became part of a church community, and eventually, the Netherlands started to feel like home.

Oluwaseyi: Nannies are expensive here so we take care of our son by ourselves. One profound culture shock is the fact that there are wait times for daycare admissions, so we had to wait for some availability before our son got into daycare. That wasn’t the case in Nigeria. Another interesting thing we learned or got accustomed to was making appointments. The Dutch are extremely time-conscious and love making appointments. We’ve had a few scenarios where we had to make appointments well in advance before we got anything done. 

For the first few months, relocating did have some impact on our marriage. For one, arguments became frequent, because the support systems we had in Nigeria – nanny, extended family members – were no longer available. We became responsible for every aspect of our domestic lives and our careers, which can lead to some heated conversations.

Tell us about this impact relocation had on your marriage and one remarkable change you had to make 

Praise: There was a particular moment a few months after our relocation when we found ourselves reevaluating our marriage and the state of our lives. We asked the big, tough questions. We were both on edge, engaging in frequent arguments and disagreements over trivial matters, overwhelmed by the challenges of starting all over again in a foreign land. The constant cycle of job interviews followed by numerous rejections, having to pay heavily for daycare so we could work, learning a new language, and having to spend two times our annual rent in Nigeria on rent monthly here weighed heavily on us. As though that was not enough, despite our decent earnings, we struggled to build any substantial savings. 

However, we swiftly recognised the need to confront these difficulties head-on and, reminding ourselves how God had specifically chosen this place for us, was such a reassuring anchor during those tough times, which was a lot in the beginning.

Oluwaseyi: One remarkable change was that we placed more structure into our finances by assigning expenses to each other. For instance, rent and utilities are taken by one person while black tax and others are taken by the other.

Exactly!

Now that you’re in the Netherlands, what principles/values guide your marriage and the relationship you have with each other?  

Praise: God helped us, that’s the short answer. Whenever it felt like we were drowning and asking ourselves why we were here, we just had to go back to God’s promises for us and our family and that was how we navigated those seasons in our marriage. We became better for it and stronger. Now, we are beginning to eat the good of the land.

Oluwaseyi: For me, these are the principles: We are Christians, we believe in God and his son, Jesus Christ, and he has helped us through this process. Sticking with the person you made a vow to no matter how hard it gets and always see things from a “we” perspective, not “I”. The woman I married is practically responsible for what I am today. No matter how hard it gets, I will always stick with her. Say sorry, even when you are not at fault.

Do you have any advice for couples planning to relocate?

Praise: Put God first in all you do, it’s a tough world out here. Only move when God says it’s time to go, if not you could be frustrated by all the changes happening too quickly. 

Also, know why you’re doing this in the first place, not just because your friends are relocating or because it seems cool to be an abroad babe. Be grounded in your rationale for moving, because when those tough times come, which they will, fiercely and severely, what would keep you levelled is the “why” behind your relocation.

Oluwaseyi: Be prayerful. Prayer will always give you clarity of thought wherever you need to go. I prayed for months for the opportunity to relocate with my family before it even showed up. Be patient, and do not be desperate, all things are in the hands of God. If he believes it is in your interest to leave where you are, he will create a way. Things will get hard, but make sure your marriage does not fall apart, that can have a lot of consequences. Lastly, do not get married with the hope of relocating shortly after, especially if you do not have the means to yet. That is a wrong premise for any marriage.

Derin Fabikun is the creative director for the eponymous brand — Derin Fabikun (formerly Fablane by Derin) and Bloom by fbd.

The self-taught designer ventured into fashion design at the age of 19 and at 33, she is known for her classic and beautiful cuts.

At the moment, Derin is enjoying working on herself and spending time with close friends and family whilst being a fantastic creative with a dream for every woman, all over the world, to have a piece or more from her brand hanging in their closet as she builds a solid fashion brand that both young and “young at heart” women can resonate with.

Sophia Ike-Onu

Sophia Ike-Onu is an architect and entrepreneur who pioneered the fusion of fashion and technology (e-commerce) in Africa. She is the Founder and CEO of The5kShop/T5S Retail, a fashion tech company headquartered in Nigeria.
Sophia is a 1st-prize recipient of the prestigious British Council Enterprise Challenger and has served as a Virgin Atlantic ambassador.

How we met
By the bride, Christabel:

Our love story started 6 years ago, in January 2017. It was a Sunday morning, I had just returned from my Dad’s Funeral. I was at my nearest bus stop with a few others waiting for a bike to drop me off for 7:30 am mass. A car stopped right in front of me, horned and waved at everyone to enter. He has the habit of giving churchgoers lifts anytime he’s going to the Church. I happily entered the front seat, the driver was such a beautiful man lol. He stopped for us to alight when we got to the church and I quickly asked if he’d be going back to the Estate afterwards. He affirmed and showed me where he was going to park so I could join him later. He didn’t ask for my details or anything, oh well! We’ll meet some other time, I said to myself. We met two Sundays consecutively, yet this man didn’t ask me for my number.

   

That was how we kept missing each other for about 2 months because we kept attending different Masses hoping to meet. We finally met again one Sunday evening. I saw him drive past my house and we quickly exchanged contacts. I was on my way out for a date when I saw him. Before I got home, he had already texted me on Imo App. We were friends for two years, hanging out a lot, and grew so fond of each other, yet he didn’t want commitment, ahh! Suitors were coming for me, He told me to marry any of them as he wasn’t ready to settle down, lol. I was sad because he was perfect for me but I was grateful for his honesty. Fast forward to a few months later, I started giving lots of attention to my suitors to make a choice and paid less attention to him. He saw the moves and rushed back to stop me. He now asked me to wait for him, as he would make it worth the wait. We stuck with each other against all odds, and here we are celebrating

Simidele Adeagbo is putting Nigeria on the map again.

Over the weekend, she made history as the first African athlete to compete in Bobsleigh at the BMW IBSF World Championship in Winterburg, Germany. Nigeria also became the first African country represented in bobsleigh at a World Championships in the 100-year history of IBSF.

Bobsleigh, also known as bobsled, is a team winter sport where timed runs are made in a gravity-powered sledge down small, winding, banked, icy tracks. The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation governs bobsleigh competitions across the world (IBSF).

The Nigerian-Canadian skeleton racer competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics, where she finished 20th and became Nigeria and Africa’s first female skeleton athlete. She also made history as the first black female Olympian in the sport. More recently, in 2022, she won the women’s mono bob event in the 2022 EuroCup, becoming the first athlete from Africa to win an international sledge race.

“This weekend I will make history for Nigeria as the 1st African athlete to compete in bobsleigh at the BMW IBSF World Chams,” she wrote on her Instagram account.

This is the FIRST time ever the continent of Africa will be represented in bobsleigh at a World Champs in the 100 years since @ibsfsliding was founded. I want to take a moment to celebrate this significant barrier that took a century to break. Too often our historic contributions are not recognized, undervalued, and forgotten. So as we celebrate BHM, I’m honored to write another chapter in the new future of sport.

This first will be forever recorded in history, paving the way for greater access and inclusion in the primarily Eurocentric, male-dominated sport of bobsleigh. This historic moment is a testament to hard work and dreaming more than others think is practical As I break this barrier on the ice, through the work of the @simisleighsfoundation, I continue to break the barriers that limit women and girls’ opportunities to reach their full potential.

Remi came across a photo Wole’s photo on her Instagram Explore page one fateful day. She left a simple ‘like’ on the photo and little did she know that this action would plant the seed that would blossom beautifully. What followed was a DM from Wole and eventually a beautiful connection which is now leading them to the Alter.

They are serving us premium beauty with their pre-wedding shoot and we are obsessed. As a pilot, it is only right that Wole infused a bit of that feel into their shoot and we love how it turned out. It is safe to say that these lovebirds are flying on the wings of love!

How we met
By the bride, Remi:

I saw a picture of Wole the first time he flew his dad on my explore page, and I liked it. A few months after, he sent a friend request and after a month or two of always being the first to like my post, he sent a DM. We chatted almost every day and shared memes. We exchanged phone numbers and spoke at length including via video calls.  He would gist me about what life is doing “gear up and gear down” every day (people in the aviation industry will understand 😂) we literally spoke about everything, including the men I was talking to then.

   

I wasn’t interested in a relationship with him then ( I don friend zone baba). He travelled with some of his colleagues for training, and I sometimes spoke to them. One of his friends and colleague was the one who told me he liked me but I didn’t take him seriously. He ended his training on his birthday month and he came to see me. I got him a birthday present and before you knew it, baba started finding his way out of the friend zone. And now he’s out!! 😁

]]> If something is meant to be yours, best believe it’ll always find a way into your arms no matter how long it might take. Maanaa and Lentei can relate because this is how their sweet love came to be.

Their journey began ten years ago when they were introduced by a mutual friend. Time and distance crept in at some point and after years of not keeping in touch, what was meant to be a business lunch date turned out to be the spark that ignited the flames of love. After their reunion, they both knew that forever was the only way up from there. Their pre-wedding photos beautifully capture the essence of their sweet love, symbolizing a journey that defied time and distance. Each frame is bound to leave a wide smile on your face.

How we met
By the bride, Maanaa:

‘The world becomes a little brighter the moment you meet someone who understands you.’ We were first introduced to each other in 2014 by a mutual friend. We became friends and spoke for about a year, and we both went our separate ways. We were both on very different journeys and God knew we needed a few years apart to be nurtured by Him. In early 2022, I sent Him a text asking for help concerning some aspects of my business. We hadn’t spoken in years, however, a friend of his had hinted to me that he’d be the best person to help me.

  

So, I just sent a harmless message asking him to get back to me in his spare time. We kept missing each other and He asked that we just meet and talk it over lunch. We met on a Sunday afternoon and spoke for 8 hours straight. It was almost as if we had never stopped talking to each other since 2014. A few days after we met, we both knew this would be forever, we knew that God had indeed set the table for us.

After his showstopping performance at the Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, Usher and his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea made their way to Vegas Weddings’ drive-thru tunnel known as The Fast Lane. With close friends and family surrounding them, the couple exchanged their wedding vows, and Usher’s mother, Jonetta Patton, stood as their witness., according to PEOPLE magazine.

Speaking with PEOPLE about his relationship with Goicoechea, Usher said, “Listen, when you find someone that you know is a great partner, of course, it is an honour and a pleasure to be able to share life with someone who wants to share it with you and loves you, who you are. We’ve obviously made a commitment to live for life together because of our children. It wouldn’t be odd for us to get married. We already did here. You know what I’m saying?”

It’s Valentine’s Day! We know it is an occasion that’s just meant for lovers, but then what can the singles do other than breathe?

Well, here’s the thing: even if you don’t have a significant other yet, that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day in your special way. For starters, you are here, that’s worthy, and you can make do with the day any way you want. You can decide to indulge in some romantic novels, we’ve made a list for you here. You can catch up on a series or even rewatch your favourite movies. What about that online course that’s got a few modules to go, now you can finish it. Here’s an even cool thing to do, you could create a playlist filled with your favourite songs, and order some sweet Jollof Rice for an accompaniment.

The key is to embrace the day with self-love and enjoyment. Valentine’s Day is a chance to celebrate love in all its forms, including your love for yourself. So whatever you’ll be doing tomorrow, just ensure you do it to celebrate YOU.
